      ♛ The Fifth Astral Era       Avalas is a well-known historian and general enthusiast of the era and is rumored to have traced her family line back to the ancient city-states. She is an avid collector of relics of the age, paying handsomely for authentic relics or charging steep costs to part with items from her own collection.Perhaps you have sold her a relic, purchased one from her, or used her arcane library.       ☾ General Debauchery       Lady Blackstone is probably somewhat of a legend for both working hard and playing hard. She is well known for holding marathon study sessions or hedonistic soirées that last for days on end, often prolonged by various illicit substances found within Thanalan. She is also a frequent patron of other businesses (both legitimate and underworld) around Ul'dah, reveling in the simple pleasure of something as simple as a cup of coffee or flirting with a stranger at a bar.She takes particular interest in bloodsport, and has been seen at the Coliseum and various other fighting arenas around Eorzea.Maybe you've crossed paths her and shared a pipe, a drink, or a tumble in the sheets.

      ♛ Criminal Underworld       Lady Blackstone is a known entity in the criminal underworld of Ul'dah and Thanalan at large. Making her home in Vesper Bay, she commands an organization that deals in the darker side of the arcane, ceruleum and magitek salvage. Her partner, Commodore Caldwell, leads a sister organization in Vylbrand. Together, the two women control a fortified shipping lane in the Rhotano Sea.Have you done business with the Lunaris Conclave?

History

Avalas has only fleeting memories of the Ala Mhigo of her early childhood, having been forced from her home by conflict with the Garlean Empire. She arrived in Ul'dah with her older sister, living on scraps and occasional pity.In her early teens, her magical aptitude was discovered at the Arrzaneth Ossuary and training began in earnest. Forced to work in mortuary duties as repayment for an attempted theft, she honed her skills in the aetheric and academic until the Calamity. Some say that she was overcome with grief as corpses flooded the Ossuary, and others say she stole something valuable enough from a corpse to fund the rest of her life. Whatever the reason, it was enough for her to be disowned by her sister and to leave Thanalan.There are rumors and sightings of Avalas in the years after the Calamity. Styling herself as Lady Blackstone, she's been spotted traveling with scholars and occultists from Sharlayan, Ishgard, the Black Shroud and even Kugane. Confirmed sightings place her at a tavern in the Shroud for a time, then a merchant house in Vylbrand, then returning to Thanalan several years ago where she started spinning her own web.Armed with powerful magics and a small but dedicated following, she has carved a successful niche for herself in an advantageous position where the arcane, wealth and politics intersect in the long shadow cast by Ul'dah.

I am a busy adult (30+), so my pace of RP can be slow depending on the chaos of the day. I am not always in the game, as I have a full time job, college class schedule, needy doggo and interests outside of FFXIV. I will, however, make time to write with you if we plan ahead.Avalas is a villain. She is ambitious, self-serving and cruel. She blends in with the cutthroat politics of Ul'dah, operating her schemes under the noses of authorities. She enjoys a wide latitude of plausible deniability within Ul'dah. As a character steeped in crime and forbidden magic, closed stories with her explore mature and dark themes of power and control. She seeks to operate under the nose of authority and takes great effort to conceal all of her criminal activities. Due to this, characters who seek to bring her to justice will likely not succeed (unless we talk about it OOCly first).There are times where her interests and goals align with a traditionally "good guy" world view and she will make alliances accordingly.I am generally an easy-going RPer and down to write mostly whatever comes up in a scene, but I do ask that my RP partners are considerate of my OOC boundaries.
